On All Saints Sunday, we introduced
our worship series for the month of
November, Let Me Tell You a Story.
We remembered and celebrated the
saints whose stories of love and
commitment continue to inspire and
bless us. Their stories are part of
God’s continuing story of love,
redemption, forgiveness, and justice.
Our Advent theme acknowledges
and gives voice to the role of fear
in the Christmas story and what
so many are feeling in our world
today. And yet as a whole this
series is about how to practice
hope in fearful times.
The story we told on Sunday was
about Ruth’s love and loyalty. We will
tell the story of Esther’s courageous
faith, Jesus’ proclamation of justice in
Luke 4, and the story of mercy and
forgiveness in Luke 23. Stories matter
and are remembered. As Rachel Held
